Valdosta Walkers Raise $117,000 for Cystic Fibrosis

Valdosta Daily Times: Seventh annual Cystic Fibrosis fundraiser surpasses $1 million

Valdosta, GA - A record number of participants joined together at Wild Adventures Theme Park in Valdosta, GA to raise over $117,000 for cystic fibrosis research.  This seventh annual Great Strides walk for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation drew over 320 walkers and broke through the cumulative $1 Million dollar mark of funds raised over those seven walks.

Ambling Companies and Wild Adventures were the two primary sponsors of the event and have partnered in this effort over the last 6 years. “We are extremely proud to be associated with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Wild Adventures,” stated Mike Godwin, president of Ambling Companies.  “We’ve always had strong local participation but this was a new record.”

Valdosta State University and Valwood School both supplied teams of more than 75 walkers each The Ambling team had over 65 participants.

Godwin was pleased with the funds that were raised. “It’s a powerful statement that even in these strained economic times people are willing to dig down deep and give to a worthy cause,” Godwin commented.  “It makes it doubly impressive that we broke through the one million dollar mark!”  This was the seventh year of Ambling’s work with the Foundation.   

The mission of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, a nonprofit donor-supported organization, is to assure the development of the means to cure and control cystic fibrosis and to improve the quality of life for those with the disease.
